# 7 rock your world (9-2)

just can't take the convincing winner of the preakness at 8-1..something's not right with that..

ryw by pace figures is the speed of the race..better than eq and hrc and thinking he may be out on the lead unchallenged .. if not doubt whoever goes will press him too hard as it's to both their detriment..another who won a grade 1 first time trying the dirt..always willing to forgive a poor derby effort and looks like he encountered some trouble as many do in that type of race..dam sire won the belmont and he has one of the lower dosage indexes in the field which is a good thing..cost a bunch as a yearling so big things were expected of him..I think something like this is important even at this stage of their career

I also had the #7 expecting Rosario to get him to an uncontested lead. But O'Neil and Pratt took advantage of their inner post to blow up that strategy. There was still hope that Rock Your World could fire from his unexpected stalking position but he did what most horses do when taken out of their front running strategy, folded like a cheap suit when they turned for home. But Hot Rod Charlie never folded and only gave up the lead grudgingly as they approached the wire. I agree with you, JBEX, that was one gutty performance by Hot Rod Charlie.

Congrats to him. And of course congrats to Essential Quality for showing why he was the pre-Derby favorite. That was a great two horse race down the stretch.

yes when he wasn't able to get to the lead which looked on paper like a reasonable possibility that was that..always look at it again afterwards and if you (whoever) told me I like hrc for the reasons I stated above I couldn't argue that..I like those traits grittiness, consistency and ability to do it at many different tracks..no excuses as he wasn't my choice and that's all that matters..eq is an extremely talented horse to say the least . guessing we'll see him in the jim dandy next
